Summer has arrived. It did not abandon us. It has faithfully returned to us, gracing us with another sweet season on Lake Champlain. It has been a long, arduous winter, and we are ecstatic to start rounding up the weekends again. So, without further ado, your first Lake Champlain Weekend Roundup of 2018:

Head down to Shelburne Farms this Friday evening and join Chef Richard Witting of Firefly Catering as he teaches the group how to identify and harvest nutrient-dense, wild food in the field and forests on and near Shelburne Farms. Learn about how your ancestors meal-prepped from the best – Witting has been cooking and selling wild edibles since 2001!

Start summer with a splash and join the Community Sailing Center for the grand opening of their new campus on the waterfront. There will be yoga on the lake, free sails on the Friendship Sloop and CSC keelboats, snacks courtesy of Skinny Pancake, free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and a special guest appearance by Champ from the Vermont Lake Monsters! One of the largest annual events in Vermont, the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival is truly a can’t-miss event. The event is a vital city-wide community festival that contributes to the national jazz dialogue. Over ten days, jazz musicians of a regional and national scope showcase their talents all throughout the area. There are countless performances happening at virtually every possible venue throughout Burlington – so get downtown and enjoy the music!
